How long will it take to process my application package?

The CSOS Registration Authority typically processes complete application packages within 7-10 business days. Please note that incomplete applications will take longer to process.

Mailed application packages take at least one week and often as long as two weeks to be received by the CSOS Registration Authority. Including time spent in the mail, applicants can expect to receive their certificate activation notices on average about a month after mailing the application package to DEA.

What will I receive from DEA?

All CSOS Coordinator Subscribers will receive one CSOS Administrative Certificate for communication purposes. Additionally, if the Coordinator is authorized to sign controlled substance orders and has requested this ability, he/she will receive on CSOS Signing Certificate for each DEA Registration number indicated on his/her application.

DEA sends one E-mail and one postal mailed activation notice for each certificate issued:

• The E-mail will contain an Access Code specific to one certificate.
• The postal mailed document will contain a corresponding Access Code Password in addition to Web site login information.

If your E-mail software blocks Spam messages and junk mail, please configure your settings if possible to allow messages from regauth@deaecom.gov.

What should I do once I receive my activation notices?

Once both the postal mail and E-mail activation notices have been received, each certificate will need to be activated (i.e. retrieved, downloaded) from this Web site. For more information on activation please visit our Activation overview.
The owner of the Certificate is the only person authorized to retrieve his/her CSOS Certificate(s)
